As part of our management of a 440 delegate conference in northern Thailand in 2012 we staged 3 unique evening social events.
Following a Chairman & Speakers Reception in an elegant garden by a pool, the Welcome Reception was held in a roof garden above the city, decorated as a Northern Thai market, with some amusing traditional dancing.
Thus we had set ourselves a challenge to make the conference dinner outshine the earlier events. The lawns of the Oriental Dhara Dhevi Hotel set the scene, surrounded by banyan trees and temple ruins, laid with pure white table clothes and outlined with live-cooking buffet points serving traditional cuisine and carefully selected traditional craftsmen demonstrating their skill. Entertaining the guests were traditional drummers, dancers and fire breathers, with delegates having the opportunity to launch paper sky lanterns at the end of the evening.
